Neka Art Museum

Hi! This week I took a tour in my city. We went to Denpasar for some shopping and to Neka Art Museum where we found fine art inspired by Bali. Museum located in a beautiful garden setting overlooking a scenic river valley, the Neka Art Museum is an ideal place to enjoy artworks by Balinese, other Indonesian, and foreign-born artists inspired by the magic of Bali.
Separate building based on traditional Balinese architecture take visitors through the history of the development of painting in Bali.

The Neka Art Museum was officially opened on 7 july 1982 by Dr. Daoed Joesoef. Indonesian minister of education and culture at the time, who throughout his life has concerned himself with many successful endeavors, including a devotion to museum projects. Together he and Suteja Neka were aware that a qality museum collection could be a source of inspiration, information, research and education. In this way, future generations could benefit from the Neka Art Museum and develop their place in the national and international art communities.

Infant Gods

The baby, wich embodies the soul of a reincarnating ancestor, is said to bean infant god or dewa, until it is 42 days old. It is carried about on a family member’s hip as it is not allowed to touch the impure soil until it is 105 days old. It’s first birthday is celebrated 210 days after birth, a year in the Balinese calendar, and the mother makes a temple offering to announce the child’s arrival in the village.

North Bali. Beach sunrise and dolphins…

Unlike the tourists of the 1930’s, who fled the noise and officialdom of Singaraja, today’s tourists find north Bali refreshingly relaxed compared to the south coast. Most come for the low-key atmospher, snorkeling, diving, and sunny weather throughout the year.

Sunrise on Lovina beach and magnificent dolphins who can be seen during morning cannot leave me indifferent…

Wonderful apartments on Dreamland beach in Bali.

Dreamland beach.

I want to tell you a story of the one of the most surprising places in the South Bali. I’m talking about Dreamland beach. It is situated near Ulu Vatu and this is a kind of new place. IMHO it is not enough background information on this beach in various guidebooks about Bali at the moment. Me and my husband have learned about DreamLand Beach from friend of mine which lived rather long period of time in Bali.

Pura Tanah Lot Temple

According to legend, the temple Pura Pakendungan, better known nw as Pura Tanah Lot, was founded by 16th-century priest Danghyang Nirartha out of sheer adoration for the natural beauty of the landscape here. It’s not hard to understand why; the power of the sea and the abrupt drama of the coastline here are aweinspiring.

The little temple sits atop an outcrop of rock in the surf, guarded by sea snakes. It is currently undergoing a major offshore reef cnservation project and heavy macinery temporarily spoils the view, but these works will eventually protect the temple from erosion and collapse.
